DiMaggio Productions - Elgin Photography and Videography - Vendor Spotlight
How it Started:
Veronica had originally was a preschool and kindergarten teacher for 4 years before beginning her journey as a mom to their 2 daughters. She decided to become a stay-at-home mom while Elijah was working for a consulting firm to help companies run e-commerce businesses.
Both of them hadn’t started working in the photo and video world until they began a family vlog channel. Looking back, they may cringe at the thought of those videos, but they got very familiar with cameras and editing and grew to really love that aspect! After learning more about cameras and editing, they transitioned into capturing engagement shoots, promo videos, and now working full time capturing weddings!
When they aren’t at weddings, they spend their days raising their babies or editing wedding content in the office. Elijah and Veronica are currently running their business all by themselves, but they may be looking to expand their business with a full-time assistant for wedding days and editing in office. Make sure to also look out for some extra supports from them in the near future!
Their Favorites:
When I asked about their favorite weddings, they said that each of them all have such unique, special touches that makes all of them fun in their own way! The weddings that get them the most excited are ones that are outside of the typical “American” style. They enjoy experiencing the different cultures and seeing how it plays into the wedding day. They also have a soft spot for weddings that have the parents out on the dance floors, too.
Their Advice to You:
Your wedding is YOUR day. Plan it so that you can enjoy it. You don’t have to do things because they are traditional - you should pick what you really like and skip the rest!
Definitely truth in that! I personally am the type of person that valued my family and friends having a good time, but when it came to my wedding day I made sure I was doing things that made me happy because ultimately they are MY memories. Obviously you shouldn’t plan a day that wouldn’t be enjoyable for your guests, but make sure to advocate for yourself and your wants.
Another piece of advice is to do a first look! When they themselves got married, they didn’t do a first look and they said the whole day felt like a “mad dash” from the ceremony onwards. They notice that weddings that do first looks are more relaxed and enjoyable for the couple! Also, you can take all the photos before the ceremony and enjoy the rest of the day full!
I agree with this 100%! I had a first look with my now-husband, and it gave us time to really enjoy ourselves after the ceremony. It also helped to get some nerves out. My husband, Jordan, didn’t want to do the first look originally because he didn’t want to ruin the moment down the aisle, but I still think it was just as incredible and it didn’t have any pressure on him. Our first look was my favorite part of the day - and Jordan says he was really glad we did it even though it took him quite a bit of convincing!
