Emotional Lacuna Lofts Wedding Feature from Chicago: Rachel and Galo

This April, Chicago wedding was such a tear-jerker for everyone involved! The weather was beautiful and sunny but very windy and that didn’t stop Rachel and Galo from having an amazing time on their wedding day. Lacuna Lofts is such an eclectic, fun spot for us to coordinate for our couples!! We provided day-of coordination because they both really wanted to focus on the party with their family and friends. There are so many fun murals throughout the whole space that really give it some personality beside its inherent beauty. Rachel and Galo surely utilized the space too with their first look, photos, and ceremony!

The day started off with the girls getting ready at the venue and the guys meeting at the hotel. Lacuna Lofts was able to have their small wedding party get their hair and makeup done in-house the morning of the wedding which really was helpful to keeping the wedding day low-key!

Rachel’s dress was so romantic with the lace and tulle. Her look as a whole really matched her sweet, gentle personality which we of course loved! And her soft hair and makeup really sealed the deal for the romance to be brought up a notch. Thankfully all of the happy tears throughout the day didn’t move her makeup one bit!

Rachel and Galo really wanted their first look out on Lacuna Loft’s SkyDeck, so we waited until the earlier ceremony was finished to see each other. We were glad that there was just enough time for this moment! Those tears were already flowing for their first look and their private vows inside while their ceremony was getting set and ready.

Rachel and Galo really took advantage of the space and what it has to offer with their portraits being all around Lacuna Loft’s murals and art. There are also some blank walls too to make sure you have some formal portraits too!

The weather was a little tricky for their ceremony - the wind was blowing so hard, that we were worried their arch might break or fall even with the sandbags holding it down. We decided it was safest to have the arch revealed for their reception, and instead we moved some candles to make a floor arch for something more visually stimulating.

Even though Rachel and Galo did a first look, Galo was still brought to tears when Rachel walked down the aisle for the ceremony. We though this was so precious and sweet!

Their ceremony was perfect and our favorite photo of the wedding is almost always the recessional kiss down the aisle. Bubbles are so underrated for the grand exit and we think you can tell what they bring to the table with this amazing shot!

One of their priorities for their day was for us to be able to set up their decor and we were able to put together their vision pretty well! The setup was really important to them and we are glad that they loved how everything ended up looking for their reception.

Galo let everyone know that he was glad Rachel gave him a second date - on their first one, they talked about “Dexter” the TV show and when she opened his car door, there was a hammer sitting right there! He had brought it out for his welcome speech and it was definitely a funny anecdote for the whole space to hear.

They had a choreographed first dance that was really elegant and sweet! We love seeing a choreographed first dance when the couple looks excited and comfortable during it!

Rachel and Galo were able to dance the night away like they had dreamed of while we took care of their details. We are so glad they really had a wonderful time on the dance floor like they had always hoped for when we first started working with them!

Rachel and Galo were truly one of the sweetest couples we have had the joy of working with and we are so happy to see how happy they were for their wedding day. It is such a gift to be able to see our couples really enjoy themselves with their family and friends!
