Adler Planetarium in Chicago Wedding Feature: Emma and Sean

This May wedding was a lovely day! I took on this wedding as the on-site coordinator under Elira Events because of the owner being pregnant. She did an amazing job planning the event, so it was only a matter of executing the plans at the Adler.

The ceremony was right outside the venue with a beautiful view of the lake and the city skyline. In the morning and afternoon, it was actually a bit chilly and we thought the weather was going to be too cold and cloudy to be outside, but it cleared up right about when it was time for the ceremony.

Emma and Sean did a first look so they could go around the city and take some gorgeous photos with the amazing architecture of Chicago. The riverwalk was also a great spot as well!

The decorations matched the venue which is a nice touch! They had the table numbers as constellation names and the navy and gold decor looked so elegant in the reception space.

We had a fun visit from Emma and Sean’s pups! It was so cute to see the photos, and it was made really simple with the dog handler that they had to bring them for the perfect timeframe for photos.

Since Emma and Sean are food bloggers at Our Countertop, they did something so unique and cool to bring some personality to their wedding. They had a “unity spice ceremony” similar to the sand ceremonies you may have seen. And their wedding favors were little spice mason jars that had their family recipes attached!

Inside the reception space, they also had a donut wall with a neon sign that I loved. The Stan’s Donuts they had delivered are also a staple in Chicago. I finished out the night with seeing a joint garter toss and bouquet toss! This is pretty unique but I really did like the energy of the crowd for it - I think it was a huge hit! The extra pieces of the planetarium also made for some lovely pictures that are really unique!

Overall, this wedding seemed to go without a hitch! I definitely enjoyed the opportunity to work in such a cool venue and with some really fun vendors.
